The magazine for Scotland's innovative business, science & technology community

Glidden created the Innovator Scotland masthead and all design layout and production for the newly launched Innovator Scotland magazine. We are currently working on issue number two, due to hit the news stands this summer.

The challenge

To launch a new magazine focusing on Innovators in Scotland which would look and feel high quality and 'innovative'.

Our approach

To develop a strong visual identity which works on multiple levels throughout the publications. To allow the design to support the quality of the articles in an understated and sophisticated manner.

Innovator Scotland masthead

The aim was to produce a distinctive, bold yet sophisticated masthead.

The solution allows for the background colour and highlight colour used on the dot of the 'i' and the word 'Scotland' to vary from issue to issue, which continues throughout the issue.

Issue number one

Deliberately avoiding the convention of using a feature article image on the cover, our aim was to create a striking cover which would stand out from other publications.

The solid rich black with matt lamination and spot uv varnish picking out custom-drawn illustrations is bold, tactile and engaging.
